The ride though was pretty much downhill with a few climbs. The day started cool then ended up blistering hot as we moved down in elevation. We also noticed the drought we have been hearing so much about. The dryness was all around, from the bone dry land to dying bushes and trees to half filled reservoirs. At one point we ran out of water about 10 miles from the nearest down and broke out our water filtration gadget, something I really did not think we would use. And after using it, it came to me realization we really could get water anywhere! No need to stop at those pesky 7-11s or water fountains, just go to any ditch suck up some water and out the ass end of this gadget some crystal clear drinking water! Pretty cool!
On another note both Sandra and I are realizing just how long this trip is going to be. I was thinking about the trip and realized that we were only on day 7 of 20.... 20 days??? What exactly were we thinking? Don't get me wrong we are having a great time, but biking 6-8 hours a day getting into camp at dusk setting up a tent then crashing then doing it again the next day.... boy it gets ya a pretty tired pretty quick! All that being said we are looking forward to seeing the coast, and the change in landscape and weather. Only 2 more days till we are there!
